AF Form 5 Pilot's Individual Flight Record (PCN 22106A) for Maj Peter D. Williams, March 1970, Prepared 7 April 1970

Prepared 7 April 1970. A US Air Force Form 5, the Pilot's Individual Flight Record, summarising Major Peter D. Williams's flying for the month of March 1970. Every sortie is in a Douglas Skyraider - A-1E, A-1G, A-1H and A-1J - and the twenty-three lines preserve the last three digits of each airframe he flew. Williams logged 55.5 hours that month, 54.0 of them combat, against a career total of 4,178.8 hours. He appears on the June 1970 roster of Operating Location Alpha Alpha, the 56th Special Operations Wing's A-1 detachment at Da Nang. Records such as this are the skeleton of an air war: bureaucratic, unglamorous, and the only complete account of who flew what, and when. The service number has been redacted. Project: 219530
