Veterans and guests gather in a museum display hangar during an Operation Tailwind reunion on 30 April 2016. Tailwind was a four-day MACV-SOG Hatchet Force raid into southern Laos in September 1970, inserted and extracted by Marine CH-53 helicopters under Cobra gunship and A-1 Skyraider cover; every man on the ground was wounded. Decades later the survivors, aircrews and families continued to meet annually. Behind them stand museum aircraft including a large radial-engined type and a natural-metal Beech twin, while the tail beyond wears the red, white and blue rudder stripes and star-in-disc insignia used by American military aircraft before May 1942.
