Wartime photographs from the personal collection of Gene McCarley show Special Forces advisors, indigenous allied soldiers, and tiger-stripe-clad MACV-SOG personnel at forward airstrips and base camps in Vietnam. McCarley led the ground element during Operation Tailwind in September 1970, and these original 35mm slides offer a rare, unedited look at the elite reconnaissance teams who operated in denied territory along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
