Restored A-1 Skyraider 'Spad' Taxiing with Ordnance Load, Tailwind Day Commemorative Event

A meticulously restored Douglas A-1 Skyraider, affectionately nicknamed the 'Spad' by the pilots who flew it, taxis under its own power during an 'Operation Tailwind Day' commemorative gathering. Loaded with a representative array of rocket pods and bombs, the Skyraider served as the workhorse of close air support and rescue escort missions throughout the Vietnam War, prized by aircrews for its heavy ordnance capacity and ability to loiter over the battlefield far longer than jet aircraft.
