An A-1 Skyraider - known to aircrews as the "Spad" - skims low over the jungle canopy of Southeast Asia. Rugged and heavily armed, the Skyraider provided close air support and rescue escort for downed airmen and ground reconnaissance teams operating deep in hostile territory, including during MACV-SOG's clandestine cross-border missions.
