Wilmington Morning Star Newspaper Clipping, 'Vietnam War' Feature, June 25, 1998
This June 25, 1998 Wilmington Morning Star clipping reflects contemporary news coverage of the public controversy surrounding a televised report that had alleged the use of nerve gas during a 1970 covert U.S. military operation in Laos. Veterans of the operation, shown here holding a wartime portrait of himself as a Special Forces soldier, publicly disputed the allegation; the report was subsequently retracted by the broadcasters. This clipping is preserved as part of the Gene McCarley Collection documenting Operation Tailwind and its historical aftermath. Project: 219479
