A reconnaissance team pairing typical of MACV-SOG (Studies and Observations Group) operations during the Vietnam War: an indigenous team member alongside an American soldier, both armed and equipped for cross-border patrol missions. Indigenous personnel, often recruited from Montagnard, Nung, or other ethnic minority communities, served as essential members of these small reconnaissance teams operating in the border regions of Laos and Cambodia.
