On October 24, 2017, the U.S. Army inducted Gary Michael Rose into the Pentagon's Hall of Heroes, one day after he received the Medal of Honor for valor during Operation Tailwind in Laos in 1970. As a Special Forces medic, Rose treated wounded teammates and continued his mission despite his own severe wounds during the classified MACV-SOG operation, one of the most daring cross-border missions of the Vietnam War.
