This commemorative display honors Sergeant Gary M. Rose, a Special Forces medic who received the Medal of Honor in October 2017 for extraordinary heroism during MACV-SOG's Operation Tailwind in Laos, September 11–14, 1970. Despite grievous wounds, Rose repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire to treat and evacuate wounded teammates, actions that remained largely unrecognized for over four decades until his belated Medal of Honor was awarded and formalized at this Pentagon Hall of Heroes ceremony.
