This exhibit panel honors Captain Gary M. 'Mike' Rose, a Special Forces medic who received the Medal of Honor for his extraordinary heroism during the classified 1970 MACV-SOG operation later known as Operation Tailwind. Serving with the 5th Special Forces Group, Rose repeatedly risked his life treating and evacuating wounded teammates under heavy enemy fire; because the mission remained classified for decades, his award was not upgraded and presented until 2017.
