U.S. Army Major General (nameplate CHEEK) Speaking at a Ceremony, 22 October 2017, Medal of Honor Events for Gary M. Rose

22 October 2017. A U.S. Army major general, identified by his nameplate as CHEEK, addresses an audience from a Department of the Army lectern during the Washington events surrounding the award of the Medal of Honor to Gary Michael Rose. Rose served as the Special Forces medic on Operation Tailwind, the MACV-SOG Hatchet Force raid into southern Laos in September 1970, treating dozens of wounded over four days of continuous contact while wounded himself. His medal, presented on 23 October 2017, came forty-seven years after the action. Behind the speaker hang the national colors and the U.S. Army flag with its campaign streamers.
