A page from the printed history of Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 (HMH-463), listing the squadron's Vietnam service from December 1966 to May 1969. Alongside the record of rocket attacks on Marble Mountain Air Facility, cargo-lift records, and five changes of command, the chronology preserves the squadron's more unusual missions: two tranquilized elephants flown to a sawmill at Tra Bong in an operation the crews named 'Bahroom,' a dead whale lifted off a beach, and the pig mascot given to a Da Nang orphanage. HMH-463's CH-53 Sea Stallions would later fly the insertion and extraction for Operation Tailwind, the MACV-SOG raid into Laos of September 1970. From the Bill Beardall material in the Donald L.
