The handwritten reverse of this photograph documents combat damage to A-1H Skyraider serial number 137618, struck by AK-47 fire through the left aileron while based at Da Nang Air Base, South Vietnam, on 25 April 1970. Crew chief Ed Huett's notes name the aircraft's pilot, Major Williams of the 602nd Special Operations Squadron, illustrating the everyday risks faced by Skyraider crews flying close air support missions.
