A restored Douglas A-1 Skyraider on static display, its wings folded in the type's signature parking configuration and its Wright R-3350 Cyclone radial engine and propeller facing the camera. Painted in the tan-and-green Southeast Asia camouflage worn by USAF Air Commando and Special Operations units during the Vietnam War, the Skyraider was prized for its heavy ordnance load, long loiter time, and rugged survivability -- qualities that made it a mainstay of close air support and search-and-rescue escort missions over Laos and Vietnam.
