North American P-51 Mustang Just After Liftoff, Rear View, Tennessee Air Museum Airshow, June 7, 2014
Just airborne, this North American P-51 Mustang still has its landing gear extended as it leaves the grass runway during the June 7, 2014 airshow. Designed and built by North American Aviation, the Mustang entered combat in 1942 and quickly became renowned for its speed and range, ultimately helping turn the tide of the air war over Europe.
