Two vintage military trainers, one marked USAF and the other NAVY, break away from each other trailing smoke during an airshow demonstration. Aircraft of this type -- primary and basic trainers such as the T-34 Mentor and T-28 Trojan -- introduced generations of American military aviators, including many who went on to fly combat aircraft like the A-1 Skyraider during the Vietnam War, to the fundamentals of military flight.
