P-51 Mustang and P-47 Thunderbolt Taxiing, Tennessee Air Museum Airshow, June 2014

A restored North American P-51 Mustang (foreground) and Republic P-47 Thunderbolt (right) taxi past one another during a Tennessee airshow in June 2014. Both aircraft represent the pinnacle of American piston-engine fighter design in World War II and remain popular attractions at warbird gatherings, where they are flown and maintained by dedicated preservation groups decades after their combat service ended.
