This restored A-1 Skyraider, marked "America" and coded "TC," taxis for a demonstration flight at an East Tennessee air show. The A-1 was the workhorse attack aircraft of Air Force Air Commando and Special Operations squadrons during the Vietnam War, prized for its ability to loiter over the battlefield and deliver heavy ordnance in support of ground troops and downed airmen. Surviving Skyraiders like this one continue to fly today as living tributes to the pilots and crews who flew them in combat. Project: 219309
