A Douglas A-1 Skyraider -- known to Vietnam-era aircrews as the 'Spad' -- taxis at a Tennessee airshow. Rugged and able to carry a huge ordnance load with hours of loiter time, the Skyraider flew close air support, rescue escort ('Sandy'), and covert support missions for MACV-SOG throughout the Vietnam War, long after most propeller-driven combat aircraft had been retired.
