Restored P-51 Mustang Fighters on Ramp, Viewed Through Foreground Aircraft Wing — Tennessee Air Show, June 2014
Two restored North American P-51 Mustang fighters sit on the ramp at a Tennessee air show, seen here framed through the wing of a nearby parked aircraft. The P-51, one of the most celebrated American fighters of World War II, provided long-range escort for Allied bombers over Europe and saw service in the Pacific theater as well. Warbirds like these are lovingly maintained by private owners and museums to keep the history of American airpower flying. Project: 219309
