The North American P-51D Mustang, one of the most celebrated fighter aircraft of World War II, provided long-range escort for Allied bombers over Europe and dominated air-to-air combat in the Pacific and China-Burma-India theaters. This restored example, named 'Ain't Misbehavin'' and marked for Capt. Jesse Frey, wears the black-and-white invasion stripes applied to Allied aircraft for the 1944 Normandy invasion to aid rapid identification. Today such aircraft are lovingly maintained and flown by warbird museums and collectors to preserve their legacy for future generations. Project: 219309
