Douglas A-1 Skyraider Taxiing at Regional Airfield, Jim Wold Memorial Day Event, May 2015

A restored Douglas A-1 Skyraider taxis at a regional airfield during a memorial gathering in May 2015. Flown extensively by U.S. Air Force Air Commando and Special Operations squadrons during the Vietnam War, the propeller-driven A-1 -- nicknamed 'Spad' or 'Sandy' -- was renowned for its heavy weapons load, long loiter time over the battlefield, and rugged durability while flying close air support and search-and-rescue escort missions.
