Douglas A-1 Skyraider Radial Engine and Cockpit Detail, Airshow Static/Taxi Display
A restored Douglas A-1 Skyraider, the rugged single-engine attack aircraft flown by "Sandy" and "Spad" pilots during the Vietnam War, shown here at a modern airshow. Its powerful Wright R-3350 radial engine and heavy ordnance capacity made the Skyraider a mainstay of close air support and combat search-and-rescue escort missions flown from bases such as Nakhon Phanom, Thailand, and Da Nang, South Vietnam.
