Museum A-1 Skyraiders Being Towed in Hangar, 'ET 606' and '665 America', May 2019 Event
Museum volunteers reposition a pair of Douglas A-1 Skyraiders inside the restoration hangar, one marked with tail code 'ET 606' in period camouflage and another, numbered '665' and named 'America,' in natural metal and tan finish. The A-1 Skyraider, a propeller-driven attack aircraft that first flew in 1945, became a mainstay of close air support and search-and-rescue escort missions during the Vietnam War, prized for its heavy ordnance load and long loiter time over the battlefield.
