Douglas A-1 Skyraider 'TC 028' in Flight, Vietnam War Era

A U.S. Air Force A-1 Skyraider, tail code 'TC,' banks over the Southeast Asian countryside during the Vietnam War. Skyraiders based at Nakhon Phanom, Thailand, flew as 'Sandy' escorts for combat search-and-rescue missions and supported covert operations conducted by MACV-SOG reconnaissance teams inserted into Laos and Cambodia. Rugged and heavily armed, the propeller-driven Skyraider could loiter over a target far longer than contemporary jets, making it invaluable for close air support in this theater. Project: 219105
