Aerial Reconnaissance Photo, Reported 'Boxer 22' Incident Site, Vietnam, 1972
This grainy aerial photograph is identified as depicting the site associated with 'Boxer 22,' the radio callsign of a USAF EB-66 Destroyer shot down near the DMZ in April 1972. The downed navigator's eleven-day evasion and rescue — supported by A-1 Skyraider 'Sandy' pilots — became one of the most dramatic combat search-and-rescue operations of the Vietnam War, later chronicled in the book and film BAT*21.
