Near-Vertical Aerial of a Single-Runway Airfield with an Underwing Rocket Pod in Frame, Vietnam War Era

Near-Vertical Aerial of a Single-Runway Airfield with an Underwing Rocket Pod in Frame, Vietnam War Era

An airfield seen from high overhead, with a live 2.75-inch rocket pod - identifiable by its yellow warhead band and cluster of open launch tubes - hanging under the wing of the photographing aircraft in the corner of the frame. Photographs like this record both the ground and the aircraft that took them. The transparency has faded severely to a pink-lavender cast, a common fate of color slide film from this period, and the airfield is not identified by any surviving caption. From the Larry Warren A-1 Skyraider material in the Donald L. Engebretsen collection. Project: 219104
