Restored Douglas A-1 Skyraider (Tail Code TC-665) Taxiing at Airshow
A restored Douglas A-1 Skyraider taxis on the ramp at a modern airshow. Originally developed for the U.S. Navy in the 1940s and later flown extensively by U.S. Air Force and Vietnamese Air Force units during the Vietnam War as a rugged close-air-support and attack platform, the Skyraider became renowned for its heavy ordnance capacity and ability to loiter over the battlefield. Aircraft like this one are preserved and flown today by warbird operators to honor the aircrews who flew them in combat. Project: 219068
