Originally developed for the U.S. Navy in the 1940s and later flown extensively by U.S. Air Force and Vietnamese Air Force units during the Vietnam War as a rugged close-air-support and attack platform, the Skyraider became renowned for its heavy ordnance capacity and ability to loiter over the battlefield.
