A-1 Skyraider Aircraft in Revetments, South Vietnam Airbase Flight Line (View 2)

Parked in individual blast-protective revetments, these A-1 Skyraider attack aircraft represent the workhorse of U.S. air power in support of ground operations during the Vietnam War. Despite its origins as a late-1940s carrier-based design, the Skyraider's heavy payload and long endurance made it a favored aircraft for close air support and covert reconnaissance-team support missions throughout Southeast Asia.
