Airman Wiping Water from Face During Flight-Line Dunking Ritual, A-1 Skyraider Tail Section, Vietnam War Era
A young Air Force airman, drenched from a squadron “dunking” celebration, wipes water from his face on the flight line before the tail of an A-1 Skyraider. Such informal rituals — marking a first solo, a milestone mission, or a safe return from combat — were common morale traditions among Vietnam-era Skyraider (“Sandy”) squadrons. Project: 219052
