USAF A-1 Skyraider "Spad" (Tail Code TT, 593) in Flight, Vietnam Era
A Douglas A-1 Skyraider, affectionately nicknamed the "Spad" by its pilots, banks in flight while carrying external fuel and ordnance. Rugged and heavily armed, the propeller-driven Skyraider served the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam long after the jet age began, flying close air support and "Sandy" rescue-escort missions to protect downed airmen and support covert MACV-SOG ground operations in Laos and Cambodia.
