Douglas A-1 Skyraider in Flight, Tail Code 'TS', Low-Altitude Takeoff/Landing Pass
A Douglas A-1 Skyraider, the propeller-driven attack aircraft flown by U.S. Air Force pilots throughout the Vietnam War in close air support and search-and-rescue escort ('Sandy') roles, is captured on takeoff or landing. Rugged and heavily armed, the Skyraider remained in frontline combat use even as jet aircraft became dominant, prized for its long loiter time and ability to absorb battle damage. Project: 219043
