The Cessna O-2 Skymaster served as a primary Forward Air Controller (FAC) aircraft for the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam, its twin-boom design and push-pull engine configuration allowing slow, low-level flight to spot targets and mark them for strike aircraft. Parked here on an upcountry airfield ramp alongside sheltered UH-1 Huey helicopters, this O-2 represents the vital reconnaissance and target-marking role that made close air support possible throughout the Central Highlands.
