F-4 Phantom II Static Display, Lance Sijan Memorial, Wisconsin
A McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II stands mounted on a memorial pylon, viewed from below against the sky. The Phantom served as the workhorse fighter-bomber of the Vietnam War for the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps. This example serves as a static memorial honoring Lance P. Sijan, a Wisconsin native and U.S. Air Force pilot who was shot down over Laos in November 1967 and posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his conduct as a prisoner of war. Photographed August 2018. Project: 218971
