Flight Line View from Aircraft Cockpit, Revetments and Fire Trucks, Vietnam
Photographed from the cockpit of a taxiing aircraft, this image shows a typical forward airbase flight line during the Vietnam War. Corrugated steel revetments shielded parked aircraft from enemy rocket and mortar fire, while crash trucks stood ready near the flight line in case of accidents. Bases like this one supported A-1 Skyraider squadrons flying close air support, interdiction, and search-and-rescue missions throughout Southeast Asia. Project: 218965
