USAF Douglas A-1 Skyraider "TT-779" in Flight with External Ordnance, Southeast Asia, Vietnam War Era
A U.S. Air Force A-1 Skyraider, tail code "TT," flies above the cloud tops over Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. Nicknamed "Spad" by its crews, the piston-engine Skyraider could carry a heavier ordnance load than many contemporary jets and became the mainstay of Air Force and Navy close air support and search-and-rescue escort missions throughout the conflict. This aircraft is shown fully loaded with external stores on a combat or training sortie, photographed air-to-air from a companion aircraft. Project: 218964
