USAF A-1 Skyraider Pilot Inspecting Underwing Ordnance, Vietnam War Era
A U.S. Air Force pilot inspects underwing ordnance on a Douglas A-1 Skyraider during the Vietnam War. Nicknamed the 'Spad,' the piston-engine A-1 carried heavy bomb loads and could loiter for hours, making it a mainstay of close air support and 'Sandy' rescue-escort missions protecting downed aircrew. Red safety streamers marked 'REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT' show the aircraft is being armed or inspected prior to a mission. Project: 218964
