Camouflaged Douglas A-1 Skyraider Landing with Deployed Drag Chute, Vietnam War Era
A camouflaged Douglas A-1 Skyraider rolls out after landing, its ribbon-type drag parachute fully deployed to help slow the heavily loaded attack aircraft. Nicknamed the "Spad" by its pilots, the propeller-driven A-1 remained a mainstay of close air support and search-and-rescue escort missions throughout the Vietnam War, valued for its long loiter time and heavy ordnance capacity.
