Receiver Aircraft Viewed Through Refueling Boom Sight Reticle, Dusk, Southeast Asia
A large military transport aircraft is framed through the mil-scale sighting reticle of a fellow aircraft's crew station at dusk over Southeast Asia. Sighting devices like this one, calibrated in "mils," were used aboard USAF tanker aircraft to help guide the refueling boom to receiving aircraft, part of the vast logistical web that kept combat and support aircraft flying during the Vietnam War.
