Douglas A-1 Skyraider "862" (Tail Code AD) on Flight Line, Southeast Asia
A pair of Douglas A-1 Skyraiders sit on the ramp at a Southeast Asian airbase during the Vietnam War. Nicknamed the "Spad," this rugged, propeller-driven attack aircraft carried a heavier bomb load than many contemporary jets and could loiter over a target for hours, making it invaluable for close air support and search-and-rescue escort missions throughout the conflict.
