Group portrait at a reunion or association dinner, from the donated photographs of Warren C. 'Doc' Blanchard, an A-1 Skyraider pilot who served with Operating Location Alpha Alpha at Da Nang. The print has suffered near-total loss of its cyan and magenta dyes, leaving only the yellow and residual red layers, a common and irreversible form of deterioration in color prints of the later twentieth century. Digitization preserves what remains. Ten or eleven men, several wearing shirts bearing squadron or association crests, are posed before a draped backdrop at what appears to be a banquet. Images such as this document the long postwar life of a unit, when the men who flew together kept meeting for decades afterward. Project: 218943
