A U.S. Air Force pilot stands on the wing of an A-1 Skyraider named "Peregrine" during the Vietnam War era. The rugged, propeller-driven Skyraider, nicknamed "Sandy" or "Spad" by its crews, served as a close air support and search-and-rescue escort aircraft prized for its heavy ordnance capacity and long loiter time over the battlefield.
