Squadron party, Southeast Asia, late 1960s. U.S. Air Force aircrew crowd a base club bar, beers raised and index fingers up for the camera. Most wear sage-green Nomex flying coveralls with squadron patches, name tapes and aircrew wings; several sport camouflage bush hats, and two wear the blue party suit. The improvised interior structure with its lamps and hanging silhouette ornament is typical of the elaborate, in-joke-laden squadron bars built at forward bases. For crews flying daily combat missions, the club was the principal decompression space and the primary means by which squadrons absorbed losses and rebuilt cohesion.
