A U.S. Air Force A-1 Skyraider, nicknamed the 'Spad' by its crews, banks in flight while carrying external fuel tanks and ordnance during a Vietnam War-era sortie. The A-1's rugged airframe and heavy weapons load made it a mainstay of close air support and rescue-escort missions flown by Air Commando and Special Operations squadrons in Southeast Asia.
