An oblique aerial view along the central Vietnamese coast, with breaking surf, an unbroken sand beach, a dune belt and scrub-covered flats running inland toward a hazy horizon. The dark shapes at lower left are the photographing aircraft's wing and underwing stores. The frame comes from the Vietnam slides of Capt Bob Karre, a U.S. Air Force pilot who trained on the A-1 Skyraider in class 69-06 at Hurlburt Field, Florida. Skyraider crews flew long, low-altitude missions along this coast and inland, providing close air support and covering combat search-and-rescue operations.
