A-1 Skyraider "Jayne Etta" Being Armed on Flight Line, Vietnam War Era
A U.S. Air Force A-1 Skyraider, nicknamed "Jayne Etta," is prepared for a combat sortie during the Vietnam War. Ground crewmen load rockets and bombs beneath the rugged, propeller-driven attack aircraft, which was prized for its heavy ordnance capacity and long loiter time in the close air support and rescue escort ("Sandy") roles. Corrugated steel revetments in the background provided blast protection for parked aircraft at forward air bases. Project: 218905
