Douglas A-1 Skyraider with Shark-Mouth Nose Art at Dusk, Vietnam War Era
A Douglas A-1 Skyraider, nicknamed the 'Spad' by its crews, sits on the flight line at dusk with its trademark shark-mouth nose art. Rugged and heavily armed, the propeller-driven Skyraider served U.S. and South Vietnamese forces throughout the Vietnam War, flying close air support and 'Sandy' search-and-rescue escort missions long after most other propeller combat aircraft had been retired.
