USAF Military Airlift Command Transport Aircraft on Flight Line, Vietnam Era
This photograph shows a U.S. Air Force Military Airlift Command (MAC) transport aircraft on a flight-line ramp during the Vietnam War. Aircraft of this class were the backbone of the aerial resupply effort, hauling personnel, equipment, and outsized cargo between bases in the continental United States, Pacific hubs, and forward airfields in South Vietnam. Stacked pallets and cargo visible near the aircraft illustrate the constant logistical demands of sustaining combat operations far from home. Project: 218896
