Base Perimeter View with Large Radar Antenna Array, Vietnam
This photograph from the Bob Karre collection shows the perimeter of a U.S. air base in Vietnam, with a cluster of large mesh radar antennas visible above the base's support buildings. Radar sites like this provided early warning, ground-controlled intercept, or all-weather bombing guidance for air operations during the war. A sandbagged bunker in the foreground field reflects the ever-present need for defensive positions even within base perimeters. Project: 218896
