Newspaper Clipping: "Pleiku Lists First SAR Mission," A Shau Valley Rescue
This 1968 newspaper clipping recounts the first search-and-rescue mission flown from newly established Pleiku Air Base. Two 6th Air Commando Squadron A-1 Skyraider pilots guided a Jolly Green Giant helicopter through dense cloud cover to rescue a downed pilot in the treacherous A Shau Valley. Project: 218882
